INTERVIEW WITH THE OWNERS

How did your collaboration with the Kings come about? Where did the idea for football nights come from?

One of us played flag football as a kid, and sports have always been our main topic of conversation, so it’s a natural environment for us. We once had the chance to meet the president of the Kings, Patryk, and after some conversations, we found common ground, which led to further cooperation.
As for football nights, as the owners of a pub in Krakow’s Main Market Square, we are always looking for interesting ideas that could attract new guests to our pub. From the beginning, we designed this place with the intention of broadcasting sports events in excellent quality and in comfortable conditions for our guests. That’s why football nights fit perfectly into the concept of MyPub Bracka.

American football is still a niche sport in Poland, but the culture of sports pubs is strongly linked to football. How do you see the chances of promoting the sport through community gatherings at your venue?

In our opinion, more and more people in Poland are opening up to new sports disciplines. Therefore, we believe that American football has significant growth potential in our country. The mere fact that we can watch NFL broadcasts from Polish sources is a milestone toward the sport’s increasing popularity—something unthinkable just a few years ago.
We are confident that the well-established American tradition of watching football with friends over a cold beer in a pub will catch on in Poland as well.

Have you ever been involved with football before? Are you starting from scratch, or is there already some interest? If you started from scratch, have football nights expanded your knowledge of the sport?

We’ve experienced more football on consoles than in real life. We spent quite a few enjoyable evenings playing Madden on the console when we were younger, so we’re somewhat familiar with the game.
As for the broadcasts themselves, we hope that our partnership with the Kraków Kings will increase the frequency of our football experiences. NFL nights have been a perfect hit—just like O.J. Simpson’s runs! Greetings!
