KRAKÓW KINGS WITH BRONZE IN THE POLISH CUP!

A Fantastic Tournament for the Kraków Kings Women’s Flag Football Team
Kraków Kings return from this year’s Polish Cup of the Flag Football League with a bronze medal – and with a sense that they’ve taken a major step forward in the history of women’s sports in Kraków. The tournament brought plenty of excitement and confirmed that the team from the royal city is building something truly special.

A Tournament Full of Character and Determination
Kings played four games, showcasing both dynamic offense and rock-solid defense.

The results speak for themselves:

19–12 vs Clockwork Orange Michałowice
33–7 vs Metropolitans Bydgoszcz
0–13 vs Warsaw Sirens
14–0 vs Tychy Falcons

Three victories – including a win over this year’s Polish Cup champions from Michałowice – and only one loss against the experienced Warsaw Sirens secured the Kings a place on the podium. The final standings were determined by point differential, as three teams finished with the same win–loss record.
“Pride isn’t enough!” – and it’s hard to disagree. On the field, the players showed not only grit but also pure joy, and that energy was felt by everyone watching.

Building a Roster and Team Spirit from Within

Player Anna Bąk emphasizes that this year’s tournament was the culmination of several weeks of intense – and at times unpredictable – preparation.

“New players joined us, women who are just starting their journey with flag football, and they jumped into training with incredible enthusiasm. We also had to deal with an injury to one of our key players, which forced us to adjust our game plan.”

Despite the challenges, Kings used broad rotations and boldly experimented with players in new positions – something that builds long-term versatility across the roster.

“We don’t focus solely on scoring as many points as possible. We want everyone to grow – and it’s paying off.”

Bąk also highlighted the atmosphere of the tournament and the growing strength of women’s flag football in Poland:

“It’s great to see new teams like Metropolitans and Tychy Falcons. The sport is clearly growing. And us? We beat the current Polish champions in a head-to-head game – that shows the potential of this team.”

From Physiotherapist to Player – Anna Małek’s Remarkable Debut

One of the most inspiring stories of the tournament was the debut of Anna Małek, the team’s long-time physiotherapist, who after more than a decade with the club stepped onto the field as a player for the first time.

“American football draws you in with its atmosphere. And Kings have something special – once you feel part of the team, it’s hard to walk away.”

Małek has spent years working in American football and flag football, including with the Polish national team, but only now decided to try playing herself.

“I’m a typical woman – I don’t like pain! But when the chance to play in Kraków appeared, the decision was easy. In a very short time, we managed to build a team that fights hard and genuinely likes each other.”

She debuted in the defensive unit, finishing the tournament proud and motivated for the future:

“Now it’s time to learn how to throw! The bronze medal leaves a bit of hunger but also gives a huge boost. I can’t wait for the next season.”

She ended with words that perfectly reflect the spirit of the team:

“I want to thank all the Queens for welcoming me into the team, and the coach for all the guidance and inner peace – because with us women, things can get… interesting.”

The Growing Power of Women’s Flag Football
The Flag Football League is Poland’s official nationwide championship. Games are played in the 5 vs 5 format, with 2×20 minute halves under IFAF rules, and each year the level of competition continues to rise. This season showcased remarkable progress: more teams, more excitement, and more evenly matched battles.
Kings proved they have the potential to compete at the highest level. Three confident wins, strong defense, and visible development in every player give plenty of reasons for optimism moving forward.

A Bronze Medal That Feels Like a Promise
Although a bronze medal may leave a hint of unfinished business, for Kraków Kings it is primarily a sign of how bright the future can be.
The team is growing, evolving, and – above all – enjoying the game. With their ambitious mindset, strong camaraderie, and increasing experience, more medals seem like only a matter of time.
Kraków Kings return from the Polish Cup with their heads held high.
Because this team truly has “that something.”
And – as the players themselves say – KINGS NEVER STOP.
